Perry heads back to Texas to regroup after Iowa showing

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa ? Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Tuesday that he would head home ?to determine whether there is a path forward? for his White House bid after he finished a distant fifth in the Iowa caucuses.

At times pausing to collect his emotions, Perry told supporters that he appreciated their work but that he needed to consider whether there was a viable strategy for him to restart his campaign in South Carolina.

?With the voters? decision tonight in Iowa, I decided to return to Texas, assess the results of tonight?s caucus, determine whether there is a path forward for myself in this race,? Perry said, his family standing behind him.

Before Perry spoke, his advisers tried to paint the first contest in the South as the real start to his strategy and braced for a lackluster performance in the Iowa caucuses, which typically winnows the field of presidential hopefuls.

Perry entered the race in August to great fanfare only to nosedive. He had planned to make South Carolina his final stand, but the events he scheduled there for Wednesday were put on hold while he headed to Austin.

?With a little prayer and reflection, I?m going to decide the best past forward,? he said. ?But I want to tell you, there?s been no greater joy in my life than to be able to share with the people of Iowa and this country that there is a model to take this country forward and it is in the great state of Texas.?

Is it safe to photograph with iPhone camera?

Just got my new Survival Laser II, SE, 2200 mW of 445nm! I assume that's really bright. (have to assume since I never even put the batteries in until everyones got on their OD4 Eagle Pairs). Question is, is it safe for my iPhone to photograph the beam? I've read how the laser light is concentrated within our eyes and wonder if the camera works the same. I figure the spot will probably be too bright but is oblique viewing of the beam camera safe?
I've read the some gas beams are polarized but most diode beams are not,
is the beam solely Rayleigh scattering? If so, would that be polarized even if the source was not?
Thanks

Boeing to close Wichita facility by end of 2013

(AP) ? The Boeing Co. has told its employees that it plans to close its massive defense plant in Wichita by the end of 2013 in a bid to cut costs in a tight market for defense spending.

Wednesday's announcement means the loss of 2,100 well-paying jobs at its Kansas facility, which was once considered the centerpiece of Wichita's claim as the air capital of the world.

It also dashes hopes for an additional 7,500 direct and indirect jobs that the company once promised to bring to Wichita with the Air Force air refueling tanker contract.

The work will move to Boeing facilities in Texas, Oklahoma and Washington.

Job reductions at the Wichita facility are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2012.
